Tip

Walk the road along the river early for birds, then cool off in a calm, shallow pool of the Tigre.

Be careful

Rivers rise fast after afternoon rain, so get out if the water turns brown. Entering the national park's El Tigre sector requires a guide.

Getting there

Gravel road inland from the Puerto Jiménez highway; high clearance recommended in the rainy season.
