Tip
Pack rain gear and warm layers even in the dry season and confirm trail access with SINAC before the long drive up to Altamira.
Be careful
It is cold, wet and foggy at altitude: bring rain gear, hiking boots and insect repellent, and expect muddy, slippery trails.
Getting there
Gravel road up to the Altamira ranger station; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. Some areas need SINAC permits or a certified guide.
