Playa Calzón de Pobre

Beach · Guanacaste · hidden gem

A tiny light-sand cove on the Playa Hermosa side of Punta Cacique, loved by locals for its calm turquoise water. Snorkelers rate it one of the fishiest spots in Guanacaste: work the rocks on one side, then the other.

Tip

Pack a picnic and plenty of water; there are no services, and the climb back up is the hard part.

Be careful

The 600 m trail is steep with loose gravel; not for people with bad knees. Go in only when the sea is calm.

Getting there

Same public road onto Punta Cacique as Playa Penca (guard at the gate takes your plate). Park in the small area by the road shortly after the Playa Hermosa viewpoint pull-off and walk about 600 m down.
