Playa Rincón (Rincón de San Josecito, Drake coast)

Beach · Osa Peninsula · hidden gem

A secluded palm-lined beach at the tiny hamlet of Rincón de San Josecito, just south of Playa San Josecito on the Drake Bay coastal trail. A few rustic lodges sit at the edge of the forest, macaws fly over and the sun sets straight into the Pacific.

Tip

Hike the coastal trail from Drake (about 6.5 km one way, with swims at little coves on the way) and plan a ride or boat back — or stay a night here for the sunset.

Be careful

Cross the Río Claro at low tide or by the small boat; capuchin monkeys grab unattended food.

Getting there

On foot via the Drake Bay–Río Claro–San Josecito coastal trail (hanging bridges and a river crossing), by boat, or on the rough road to Rincón de San Josecito.
