Pelada–Guiones Trail & Lookout (Nosara NCA trails)

Trail · Nicoya Peninsula

Nosara's beaches are tied together by about 9 km of forest trails that the Nosara Civic Association protects on some 250 hectares through Guiones, Pelada and Boca Nosara. The best-loved stretch climbs over the forested hill between Playa Guiones and Playa Pelada, passing a lookout with a sweeping view of both beaches; howler monkeys, land crabs, lizards and birds are common along the way.

Tip

Walk it in the early morning for wildlife, or late afternoon and keep going to Playa Pelada for sunset. Many people without a car use these trails to get around town.

Be careful

Some stretches get muddy and slippery in the rainy season; carry water.

Getting there

Start at the north end of Playa Guiones and follow the path uphill toward Playa Pelada (or the other way from Pelada's south end); beach access parking at both ends.
